Fire Ban Extended

Monte Vista City Council has extended the Open Fire Ban until at least July 7. This ban is in accordance with ordinance 886. The fire ban means ”NO” open fire defined as any outdoor fire, including but not limited to campfires, warming fires, bonfires, fireworks, charcoal BBQ grills, or burning lawns, brush and/or ditches.

Monte Vista Municipal Code 5-1-240 Creating smoke or odors prohibits the following, even when a fire ban is not in place:

a) It is unlawful and constitutes a nuisance for any person to create smoke or odors from the burning of trash, leaves, weeds, refuse or other material which creates an annoyance to others.

b) It is unlawful for any person, tenant, corporation or entity owning, occupying or managing any lot, tract or parcel of land within the City to burn or allow the burning of rubbish, garbage or junk.

Monte Vista Municipal Code 8-12-20 bans the sale, possession or use of any fireworks within the City of Monte Vista at anytime. Unless with a permit for commercial use.
