Mission Statement
It is the mission of the human resource department to provide the following quality services to the employees of the City of Monte Vista.

The Application and Selection Process
1. The City of Monte Vista distributes the job announcement throughout the community when recruiting begins.
2. Interested persons can fill out the proper application forms only during the recruitment period.
3. Persons meeting a position’s minimum qualifications are evaluated by the appropriate hiring authority.
4.The top candidates are interviewed. The successful candidate will be offered a conditional employment proposal. Depending upon the job classification and prior to acceptance of employment, the candidate is required to pass the following:
a. Drug screen
b. CBI or other government database check
c. Third-Party background check
d. Medical examination
e. Psychological examination

Applicants can search for jobs by clinking on the Employment tab on the City of Monte Vistas web site. The Job listings will be posted on this page as well as a link for an employment application. Completing the application requires sufficient information regarding your education, work experience, and applicable licenses/certifications to demonstrate that you meet the minimum qualifications for the position that you are applying for. Please use your full legal name including last name, first name, and middle initial. Complete all sections of the application- do not use “see resume.” You are welcome to attach a resume and cover letter to your application, but the application must be completed in its entirety. Incomplete applications may be rejected. Employment applications are accepted only for posted positions. The City of Monte Vista is dedicated to the principles of equal employment opportunity in any term, condition, or privilege of employment. The City does not discriminate against applicants or employees on the basis of age, race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, physical or mental disability, family medical history or genetic information, military or veteran status, parental status, marital status, political affiliation or any other status protected by state or local law. Notice Under the Americans with Disabilities Act
In accordance with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), the City of Monte Vista will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in the City’s services, programs, or activities.
Employment: The City of Monte Vista does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations promulgated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under title I of the ADA.
Effective Communication: The City of Monte Vista will generally, upon request, provide appropriate auxiliary aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in the City’s programs, services, and activities, including qualified sign language interpreters, documents in alternative formats, and other ways of making information and communications accessible to people who have speech, hearing, or vision impairments.
Modifications to Policies and Procedures: The City will make all reasonable modifications to policies and procedures to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all County programs, services, and activities. For example, individuals with service animals are welcomed in City offices, even where pets are generally prohibited.
Surcharges: The City will not place a surcharge on a particular individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids/services or reasonable modifications of policy, such as retrieving items from locations that are open to the public but are not accessible to persons who use wheelchairs.
Architectural Barriers: The City will take all required action to provide access to its building and facilities to individuals with disabilities.
Fundamental Alterations/Undue Burden: The ADA does not require the City of Monte Vista to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.
Requesting an Accommodation: Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a City program, service, or activity should contact the ADA Coordinator listed below as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event. For your convenience, the Request for Accommodation or Barrier Removal form is available on the City’s website www.cityofmontevista.com or through the ADA Coordinator.
