New Four Way Stop at 4th and Morris

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 31, 2023
The intersection of 4th Avenue and Morris Street will be changed to an All Stop.  All four sides of the intersection will require traffic to stop.
This is being done to better control the intersection, slow speeds and provide a safer neighborhood.
It is an effort that Monte Vista Police Department has been working on for a couple of months.  Data included a thorough traffic study and traffic engineering.  Work was completed with cooperation from Rio Grande County Road and Bridge and Monte Vista Public Works 

City Clean Up Days September 29th & 30th 8am to 4pm

2023 Monte Vista Clean up Days

Once again the City of Monte Vista is holding our annual City Clean Up Days September 29 and 30, 2023.  The City invites all residents to bring their trash and debris to the Public Works Yard at 384 SKI HI Trail for free dump services.  We have dumpsters setup and will collect all your waste (please note prohibited items).  The hours for this event are Friday, September 29th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 30th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Monte Vista Street Improvements 
Expansion of Work

The 2023 Monte Vista Street Improvements will expand the construction limits to include 4th Avenue on August 17, 2023.  The Utility work on Batterson is nearing completion so work will begin on the Storm Sewer on 4th Avenue.  4th Avenue will be closed to through traffic beginning August 17, 2023 from Hwy 15 to Dennis Street and continue until the project completion in November.

2023 Monte Vista Street Improvements Kick Off

Rob Vance, Public Works Director announced that the 2023 Monte Vista Street Improvements officially started on July 17, 2023.  The City in conjunction with Robins Construction has begun the rebuild of Dennis Street and Batterson from 4th Street to Lariat Road. The project also includes a block of 4th Street from Highway 15 to Batterson.  The improvements include water, sewer and storm and a new 3-inch asphalt mat performed by Asphalt Constructors, Inc.  Both 4th and Batterson will receive curb and gutter and new sidewalks.

PUBLIC NOTICE
The MONTE VISTA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT hereby announces its proposed Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation goal of 6.45% for FAA funded contracts/agreements. The proposed goal pertains to federal fiscal years 2024 through 2026. A teleconference will be held on Thursday, July 27th, 2023 at 2pm until 2:30pm for the purpose of consulting with stakeholders to obtain information relevant to the goal-setting process.

Regular meetings of the Monte Vista City Council are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month AT 6PM in the City Council Chambers located at 95 West 1st Ave. 
Meetings will now be conducted in a hybrid format, with a Zoom webinar in addition to the in person meeting in Council Chambers.
